GAME CAMERAS!   SPY CAMERAS!   INVESTIGATIVE CAMERAS!

Here is a photo that I stole from Easy 3D Camo!    Thanks Easy 3D!

HAVE SCORPION THEATER BUILD YOUR NEXT GAME, OR SPY CAMERA!  EMAIL US WITH THE KIND OF AREA

THE CAMERA IS GOING TO BE INSTALLED AT, AND WE CAN COME UP WITH A UNIQUE DESIGN WHERE THE CAMERA

WILL BLEND IN WITH ITS ENVIRONMENT!

NOTE FOR COVERT USE:  YOU WILL WANT TO USE IR FLASH WHICH IS INVISIBLE INSTEAD OF TRADITIONAL FLASH.

WE CAN MAKE THE CAMERA LOOK LIKE TREE BARK WITH TEXTURE EXACTLY LIKE THE TREE WHERE IT WILL BE

INSTALLED.   YOU CAN SEND A BARK SAMPLE, AND WE CAN CUSTOM MAKE ONE SO THAT IT MATCHES THE TREES

IN YOUR AREA.

WE CAN MAKE IT LOOK LIKE AN ELECTRICAL BOX FOR URBAN CAMOFLAGE.  WE USE THESE FOR COPPER THEFT

INVESTIGATIONS SUCH AS PLACING THEM WITH AN AC UNIT.

ONE FAILURE OF GAME CAMERAS IS THAT PEOPLE POINT THEM AT AN AREA.  WHAT CREATES A PROBLEM IS THAT THE ANIMAL (OR HUMAN) COMES FROM LEFT "STAGE" AND EXITS RIGHT "STAGE".

YOU WILL NOT GET A SHOT BECAUSE OF THE TIMING.  YOU MAY GET A PICTURE OF THE TAIL OF THE ANIMAL!

POINT THE CAMERA TOWARDS LEFT, OR RIGHT OF THE "STAGE".  NOW THE ANIMAL SETS OFF THE "TRIGGER" (MOTION), AND THEN THE CAMERA GETS THE SHOT AS THEY KEEP APPROACHING!  HOW IS THAT FOR SIMPLE?  THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE FOR NEWBIES.

IF YOU NEED TO "TAG" A PERSON TO SHOW THAT THEY WERE THE ONE INVOLVED THEN TRY USING "PAINTBALL LAND MINES".  THESE USE COLOR DYE TO "EXPLODE" ON TO THE PERSON.  IF THE INDIVIDUAL LEAVES THE SCENE YOU STILL HAVE TELL TELL SIGNS THAT THEY WERE THE ONE.  THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO DETER A PERSON FROM COMING BACK TO COMMIT A CRIME, OR TO TRESPASS.

This is a great way for a PI to watch an area with limited personel.  If someone comes on to property from a blind side, and then exits the property in haste due to setting off the "mine" then you can still identify the person from the paintball color.  This might be a case where you are providing body guard services to prevent someone from violating court order for protection.

EQUIPMENT CONCEALMENT!

If you are attaching to trees then you will want to conceal the equipment!

You can practice with liquid nails, and place this in to the type of bark as your "target" tree.  Before it sets you can pull the dryed liquid nails out of the bark.  You can then place this "bark" over your pelican case, or what have you.  Using an air brush you can paint the "bark" the proper colors, or hire someone to recreate the correct bark effect.

Perhaps you can bury the batteries, and the equipment in a hole underground with proper element protection, and run your wires in to the tree with proper concealment with paint, silk leaves.

Try some of the items that you may find at a hobby store,or a model train store.  The lichen moss can be used in a forest environment, and the powders that are used to simulate grass, sand, and grass can be used to conceal your wiring.  You can use spray on adhesive at the last minute to give your wire some texture, or to coat your devices to break up it's outline.

Spackle paint is great to "age" things.  For birdhouse to hide cameras then paint the birdhouse fire engine red, or a dark teal, and when this coat is dry then give it a layer of spackle paint.  When this is dry use a 50 / 50 mixture of water, and white paint.  When you start to paint the birdhouse then the white paint will start to split, and chip.  This gives it the old age look like it has been outdoors all this time!

PARK, OR WOODED AREA SURVEILLANCE!

Find a tree similiar to your target tree, and cut off a very large limb.  This is more for short duration operations.

You can cut (split) down the length of the "branch", and then using a router cut out the interior of both halves to fit your pinhole camera, SD card DVR, and battery packs, and perhaps a transmitter. Attach the two halves  back together with your choice of glues, or screws.  At the largest end of the branch you will want to have a large size "eye screw". The eye gives it the sturdyness to the branch, and the screw end is to be driven into the target tree. Just drill a pilot hole, and then ram the screw in to the tree, and start twisting the branch until your arms hurt, and your arms feel like they are going to fall off.  On the final twist make sure the branch is oriented to the horizon for your camera to get the correct view.  Make sure it is not pointing at the sky, or the ground.

If there is a canopy overhead then I would not be concerned about the solar panels if you go this route, as most people will not look up. You can alway conceal the bottom of them so that they cannot be seen from below. You will have to decide if it is better to paint the bottoms blue for sky, or green (orange/brown for autumn) for foilage.

If you are using CCD IR cameras then use only half the rated IR distance. Example: Cheap entry level IR cam will be rated at 30 feet of IR throw. It will only be effective at 15 feet.

Think of a flashlight with only two AAA batteries. It may throw a distance, but if you stand at the farthest illumination then you will not be able to make out features. The closer to the flashlight you get the better the illumination, and better you can see someone.

Think like a photographer. It may be better to IR illuminate a subject, or an area with front lighting, and side lighting. Bouncing IR off of tree canopy may even work better in some cases. Have you ever seen the photographer who bounces his flash off of a ceiling?

How much time do you have for the install? Is this an in, and out? Is this a permanent installation?

Will someone use counter measure to look for your gear, or to "protect" themselves?

Is there garbage in the woods? 55 gallon drums make good hiding places for cameras, and gear. I would take a rusty drum from the site, and then take it back to a shop and make the mods inside for the gear, and cut an access hole for the cams.

You might even be better off using IP equipment in a mesh fashion to get out to where your area is.

DEAD OF WINTER CONCEALMENT!

Outdoor winter environments are extremely tough.  There is no foilage on the trees, and the branches are bare.

For simple bullet cameras for residential surveillance then you can use silicone sealant, or hot glue, and  glue small branches to your bullet camera to simulate a cut off branch appearance.

For larger gear then you may have to find a matching tree to your "target" tree and cut off a branch then cut off the stump of the branch from the tree, and cut this open, and hollow it out for your gear.  Attach this to your target tree so that it looks like a stump of a cut off branch.  Do not forget to pile on some snow if it has snowed recently.

HOW TO DISGUISE WIRES!

If you are trying to run wires up a tree then try to conceal the wire with paint, and changing its texture.  Use silicone sealant to make a small little "bump" on the wire, and follow the length of wire placing a bump here, and there.  Use hobby powders to provide texture.

Glue on silk leaves to match the environment, and do not forget to perform maintenance, and to make changes as the seasons change!

GAME CAMERA LINKS!

IF YOU BUY YOUR OWN GAME CAMERA, THEN AVOID THE 35mm CAMERAS AS YOU HAVE TO DEVELOPE THE FILM BEFORE YOU CAN REVIEW YOUR PICTURES.  MAKE SURE THE CAMERA SYSTEM HAS AN LCD SCREEN SO THAT YOU CAN VIEW YOUR PICTURES RIGHT AWAY!
